Tracy Sefl is a senior vice president of Navigators Global based out of the Washington, DC office.  

 

Considered a rising star among Democratic communications strategists, Ms. Sefl has been described as "one of the best in the business" by The Tim Russert Show and "tough as nails" by The Washington Post.  Ms. Sefl brings a broad range of experience advising policy groups, labor unions, political campaigns and Fortune 500 corporations. She has particular expertise developing elite messaging for corporate executives, managing communications for high-stakes issue-advocacy campaigns, and serving in the high-pressure war rooms of two presidential campaigns.

Prior to joining Navigators Global, Ms. Sefl was vice president at The Glover Park Group in Washington, DC.  There, she led successful national media efforts for issue advocacy campaigns and corporate causes, earning a reputation for consistently delivering creative and high-level attention for her clients.  Ms. Sefl also managed complex communications efforts for several high-profile events and advised the Hillary Clinton for President campaign on national media strategy and tactics.

After the 2004 election, Ms. Sefl launched and directed communications for the leading national advocacy group Wal-Mart Watch, where she garnered international media attention for corporate wage and policy issues and helmed a successful campaign to make emergency contraception available in Wal-Mart's U.S. pharmacies. She has previously advised progressive groups on judicial nominees, served as research director for a national women's rights organization, and was a charter member of the American University Young Women Leaders Board.

During the 2004 presidential campaign, Ms. Sefl served as an advisor to Chairman Terry McAuliffe of the Democratic National Committee and conducted rapid response in the Kerry-Edwards war room. Ms. Sefl remains an advisor to McAuliffe and helped direct the research efforts and national earned media campaign for his New York Times best-selling memoir.

 

Ms. Sefl is a published author on women's health issues and a media spokesperson and featured speaker on Democratic politics. She received her Bachelor of Arts in sociology and music at Cornell College. Ms. Sefl earned her Masters of Arts and did her Ph.D. studies in sociology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she was the keynote anniversary speaker for the university's Center for Research on Women and Gender.
