Eric Shabsis is a vice president of Navigators based out of the Los Angeles, California, office.
Mr. Shabsis has worked in Los Angeles politics for the past decade and brings to Navigators a keen understanding of politics, complex policy issues and campaigning.
Prior to joining Navigators, Mr. Shabsis managed community outreach for Caruso Affiliated’s 829,000 square foot retail center, The Shops at Santa Anita, in Arcadia, California. In this role, he led a team of several full-time and part-time staff and political consultants. Together, through traditional campaign techniques, the team successfully achieved for Caruso Affiliated the endorsement of every organization in Arcadia and received unanimous approval and entitlement for the project by the Arcadia City Council.
Mr. Shabsis served as policy director to Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn. During his tenure with the mayor, Mr. Shabsis used his policy expertise to help defeat the San Fernando Valley Seccession, the movement that threatened the breakaway of 50 percent of the City of Los Angeles. He was also a part of the team that created a successful new budget process and a program to track and measure outcomes and results for every city department.
Mr. Shabsis began his political career as a fundraiser and field coordinator for Congresswoman Jane Harman’s 1996 Congressional re election. Mr. Shabsis served as deputy campaign manager for California’s Senior Senator Dianne Feinstein and as Southern California political director for California State Controller Candidate Steve Westly.
Mr. Shabsis received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
